Sydney Medowbank K tram 1296
Another Meadowbank construction was K-class tram 1296, one of around one hundred built between 1908 and 1913. By 1949 only 1296 survived along with 1295 and both ended up with the Museum. Sadly 1295 was torched by vandals in 2016.

Sydney Lorrison C class tram 290
Built in 1896 by J. Morrison, Class C 290 is the oldest operational electric tram in Australia.

Sydney Clyde Engineering F class tram 393
Clyde Engineering built F class 393 in 1902. It is the only one remaining in original condition - others were rebuilt as the L and L/P class - as it was used as a driver training. It has been with the Museum since 1957.

Sydney AEC Park Royal trolley 1
Examples of Sydney's small trolleybus system are housed at the Tram Museum. This was the first, Park Royal bodied AEC 663T 1. It was joined by two more bodied by H McKenzie for use of a route from the Town Hall to Potts Point in 1934. It was intended that trolleybuses might replace Sydney's trams, but instead they replaced steam trains! For the first route a Park Royal bodied AEC 761T doubledecker joined the trial, but the route was not wonderfully successful suffering from frequent de-wiring problems over the hilly terrain and having to cross numerous tram lines did not help.

Sydney AEC 664T Ritchie trolley 19
The second route required around twenty doubledeckers all bodied by Ritchie Brothers like 19 shown here. The order was split between Leyland TTB4 and AEC 664T models, 19 is an AEC. They replaced the last government steam trains between Rockdale Station and Kogarah, Sans Souci and Sandringham and in contrast to the first line operated successfully for over 22 years, the route succombing to motor buses in 1959. The initial route to Potts Point was suspended for road repairs in 1948 but never reinstated.
