Solo 101 (S101UBL) was the first Solo for Reading and sported a special livery for the central "Hoppa" service. The bus later operated for Silverline in Solihull.

Being such an Optare fan, it is no surprise that Reading invested in a number of Solos - 104 (S104LBL) is seen when quite new in Reading Town Centre.

This picture of 104 in Reading in Spring 2004 may appear to have an unhelpful registration, but it is arriving in the town on the 102 from Newbury. The bus retained Reading livery when it went on to work for Clarkes of Tredegar in South Wales.

Sister vehicle 105 (S105LBL) is also seen arriving in Reading, at the Cemetry Junction in July 2007. By 2009 it was with Central Buses in Birmingham, then moved south west to Blue Iris in Nailsea shifting to the Weston-Super-Mare Crosville by 2012.
