Bristol 23 (XRD23K) represents one of Reading's distinctive fleet of "Jumbos". The long wheelbase dual door standee Bristol VR buses were designed to shift large loads. The fleet of Northern Counties bodied VRTLL6G chassis was partnered by a fleet of standee Bristol RELL singledeckers with box like bodies built by fringe coachbuilder, Strachan. One can be seen behind 23.
A pair of VRTLL Jumbos in the gloom of Mill Lane depot.
Another pair of jumbos earning their keep in service in the High Street. Leading is 44 (KCF44P) highlighting that Reading bought these distinctive machines over a period of seven years.
Sister 45 (KCF45P) is seen outside Debenhams in company with one of the fleet of AEC Reliances.
Happily at least one of these impressive Jumbos has been preserved in the shape of 38 (NDP38R) seen on display at the 2015 Alton Rally.
