Metrobus East Lancs Omnidekka
Metrobus was amongst the first operators to embrace Scania's new low floor doubledecker. Initially the bus was exclusively built in the UK with East Lancs Omnidekka bodywork and features a virtually flat low floor throughout the lower deck providing more downstairs seating than the rival Dennis, Volvo and DAF products. Scania N94UD 455 (YN03DFA) is seen in the leafy suburbs of Croydon.

Earlier delivery, 454 (YU52XVN) is seen at the 2003 Cobham Bus Rally. Sadly the all London red livery policy has seen the bold yellow and blue sweeps much dimished as seen below. This does seem a retrograde step, particularly in central London where it is impossible for knowledgeable people to distinguish whether their bus is coming in the distance, let alone normal travellers.

Scania 479 (YN53RYM) shows the dehanced colour scheme. It is some way from home on tube replacement work at Heathrow Airport on April 3rd 2004 at which point the Scania decker fleet had exceeded 60 in number.

Scania 468 (YN03DFY) accompanied Dart SLF 321 (LX03DJN) to sunny Southsea for the 2003 Spectacular which was the last event staged by ViTA there. Look at the top deck windows to see an opportunity has been taken to promote driver recruitment.
