Newly privatised Trent Buses placed great faith in its inherited fleet of Leyland Nationals and they were maintained in a condition which was a credit to the company. However large deliveries of new Optare Excels and Mercedes minis saw their eventual demise. This preserved example leads a National line up at an early Duxford SHOWBUS

Looking recently retired, and believed in the early stages of preservation, National 454 (PRR454R) was seen at the 1999 Quainton Bus Rally in June.

 The bus visited the Imperial War Museum at Duxford again for the last SHOWBUS there in 2014.

 Taking part in the Stevenson 90th anniversay Running Day in Burton-upon-Trent in September 2016 was Trent Leyland National 419 (KCG627L), which was new to Alder Valley as their 127.
