An Optare Excel in the new livery turning by the Railway Station.
|
On the same day in August 2005, Excel 192 (P192SGV) waits at the Station, still in the old colours. Whereas many of Ipswich's buses are named after old canal barges, this one is dubbed HANDFORD HALL PRIMARY SCHOOL AND NURSERY.
|
By 2015 192 had passed into preservation and restored to Ipswich livery having had a spell with Simonds of Botesdale where it had arrived in Carters' red and yellow livery before donning Simonds white Countrylink colours. The bus is seen arriving in the grounds of Woburn Abbey for SHOWBUS international 2015.

Sitting in the depot was a very different pair of buses. On the left is the last remaining Leyland B21 with Alexander Belfast bodywork, acquired from Ulsterbus 3000 (WOI607). The bus is Ipswich 147, named BRISTOLIAN, and was actually licensed as a Bristol. The five B21 buses built for Ulsterbus and Citybus were bought by Ipswich after a short spell in the province. On the right, in new colours, is one of the early East Lancs bodied Dennis Darts, 162 (L162ADX), quaintly named Doris.

Proudly bearing its Bristol badge, preserved B21 115 (B115LDX) is seen on display at the August 2013 Brislington Rally in Bristol city, a stone's throw from where the chassis was assembled. The bus was one of four (114-117) acquired as a result of a cancelled order from Tel Aviv, they happily joined the Irish B21 all with Alexander Belfast bodies. |
