At the vanguard of a trend to transfer buses to the Shires from Arriva Midlands was NCME bodied Volvo Olympian 5162 (S651KJU) seen on the 800 in Oxford Road, Marlow, Wycombe bound in June 2011.

A transfer from a different source was 5920 (M920MKM) seen in Aylesbury Bus Station in June 2013. The 55 goes to Wendover and Halton Camp, but roller blinds prevent it showing any destination display, one of the advantages of electronic displays with inter-company transfers. The bus was new as Maidstone & District 5920. |
An unidentified Olympian is seen in Oxford Road, Marlow in September 2010. The driver is inspecting the engine compartment as the bus was overheating. A disproportionate number of buses has been lost to conflagration on the Wycombe - Reading service. This one did not need the Fire Brigade, though two others are illustrated on here with the Brigade in attendance. |
Less subtle is the Watford route branding on 5148 (S148KNK) which must have been confusing for the good citizens of Reading where it is seen at the Station in May 2010. Equally it would have had little meaning all along the route to its Wycombe base, where it paraded in with the branding for many months. |
